Good For you!

Mango is a nutrient-dense fruit that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Here are some of the health benefits of mango:

  1. Boosts Immunity: Mango is rich in vitamin C, which is essential for a healthy immune system. It also contains beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body, another essential nutrient for immune function.
  2. Aids Digestion: Mango contains enzymes that aid digestion and help the body break down proteins. It’s also high in fiber, which helps to regulate bowel movements and prevent constipation.
  3. Lowers Cholesterol: Mango is rich in fiber, pectin, and vitamin C, which all help to lower cholesterol levels in the body. Additionally, the high levels of antioxidants in mango can help to prevent oxidative damage to cholesterol, which can contribute to heart disease.
  4. Improves Eye Health: Mango is high in vitamin A, which is essential for healthy eyesight. It also contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants that protect the eyes from damage caused by free radicals.
  5. Promotes Healthy Skin: Mango is high in vitamin C, which is essential for collagen production. Collagen is a protein that helps to keep skin firm and elastic, and it’s also important for wound healing.

Now that we’ve explored the health benefits of mango, let’s move on to a delicious mango nice cream recipe that you can try at home.

Ingredients

All you need to ensure you have is some frozen ripe bananas and frozen mango. If you ever have some bananas in the fruit bowl that look a bit too far gone, before throwing out, either make banana bread or chop them up and freeze for future nice cream and smoothies!

  • 2 frozen bananas roughly chopped
  • 100 g frozen manago
  • 200 ml oat milk or alternative

Directions

Ideally you’ll want a high powered blender. I like to use Ninja 2-in-2 blender as it creates a deliciously smooth nice cream in 60 seconds.

Add the frozen banana and mango pieces into the blender with a good splash of dairy free milk and hit blend. You may need to add a little more milk to get it a bit smoother.

Preparation Tips

This should be sweet enough using bananas and mangoes, but for an extra bit of sweetness, you can add 1tbsp of maple syrup.

Once you have the base, you can get creative, and stir through some desiccated coconut, a squeeze of fresh lime juice and some sweet morello cherries. Get creative!
